  • Simon Underwood – Bass
  • James Johnstone – Alto Sax & guitar
  • Chris Lee – Trumpet
  • Ollie Moore – Tenor Sax
  • Roger Freeman – Trombone
  • Chip Carpenter – Percussion
  • Chris Hamlin – Clarinet & percussion
  • Mark Smith – Bass

Hamlin left the band shortly after the recording of “Papa’s…” and according to a 1982 interview in The Face, was involved in a legal dispute regarding the track when it became a hit.

Dr Heckle Line Up

  • Simon Underwood – Bass

Roger Freeman left the band in 1982, and for the recording of The Big Bean single, the band added:-

  • Brian Nevill – Drums
  • Oscar Verden – Trombone & keyboards
  • (James Johnstone played steeldrums)

Kofi Adu joined the band on drums later in 1982 and it was this was the line-up which appeared on the 1982 Christmas Top Of The Pops TV show, performing “Papa’s…”.

In late ’82 the band announced that they had made an addition to their line-up which would surprise people, and the 1983 album and single both featured new chanteuse, Angela Jaeger. Previously all Pigbag releases had been instrumental (apart from a few chants on B-sides etc.)

    I just discovered Sunny Day in a load of old vinyl records, absolutely loved rockin out to it!! I started playing tenor sax this year, so jammin along to the mad sounds. Amazing record guys
