I’ve just heard from Brian Nevill that there won’t be a Pigbag reunion this year after all.
We’ll have to console ourselves with the excellent re-issue CD/downloads.
And there’s always the prospect that the reunion may happen next year.
It’s just the text from the “Value of Entertainment” programme, complete with a misspelling of James’ surname, but it’s a start.
Now if ZTT could dig through their archives and unearth some/any of the Instinct material while they are compiling their excellent “Element” series of re-issues, I’d be even happier.
The re-issue of the Pigbag albums has been delayed, with the Fire Records site now giving 13th September 2010 as the new release date, rather than 12th July as previously scheduled.
A little disappointing that they’ve been delayed but maybe they’re being held back to coincide with the reunited Pigbag gigs?
Update: 22nd July 2010 – I got an email from Amazon yesterday saying that Vol. 2 has been dispatched and that Vol.1 is being prepared so I guess the delay was less than they thought. Even more strangely, the Fire Records site now says 11th October for release!
Update: 26nd July 2010 – I’ve received both Vol.1 and Vol.2 now and they’re available in good records shops or online. And they’re every bit as good as expected!
Following the re-issues and remixes recently announced, Pigbag are currently rehearsing with the possibility of select reunion dates in the near future.
You can listen to the new official Pigbag remixes of “Papa’s Got A Brand New Pigbag” at the official Pigbag website – http://www.pigbag.co.uk – The tracks will be released on 12″ vinyl and digital downloads on 14th June, just as the World Cup gets going.
The two remixes are the Vuvuzela mix and the Brand New Pigbag mix
So that’s pretty much everything that Pigbag released, except the BBC Radio Sessions which were previously released on CD. Full track listings for both releases can be found on the “Re-Issues” page.
The site says they will be available 12th July 2010, priced at £15 each, and they’re available for pre-order.
Both releases will be available for download at £5 each, or £0.79 per track.
Additionally, “Papa’s Got A Brand New Pigbag” (7″ and 12″ versions) are available for download at Amazon and Apple iTunes Store for £0.79 each.
The band appeared playing “Papa’s Got A Brand New Pigbag” in the last few minutes of the show.
The full clip on YouTube includes Shakatak, but I’ve set the start time on the clip below to about 4 and half minutes in.
